Taking your outfit planning skills to the next level!
Almost without exception, the goal is going to be to create fully accessorized, unique, eye catching outfits – without having to go out and buy everything from scratch - unless of course you want a reason to shop! The following steps should be used to get your own ideas flowing and pull them all together into something amazing!!
STEP 1:
Find a piece that you have, or that you plan to purchase that is unique – a top or bottom or shoe or hat. It can be unique because of the shape/cut, or the fabric, or the color, or the texture, or the words written on it, or because of the holes in it - anything.
STEP 2:
Complete the top and bottom of the outfit and add one more layer – or two! Not like hobo layers, but like hoodie over tshirt, over bralette kinda layers.
STEP 3:
Finish that outfit with accessories you might not put together normally, or that are just as unique as the first piece – a retro hat, a pair of ridiculous shoes (again, not hobo ridiculous, more like sick ridiculous – is that a thing?), a super chunky bracelet, or 20 bracelets, stockings, knee high socks, a statement necklace, an arm cuff… you get the idea, now make it your own! PS: we do have a large collection of accessories that can be borrowed. We’ll make suggestions if you want, just let us know you’re looking!
STEP 4:
Plan your makeup to match the mood of the outfit. I tend to prefer lots of contrast on camera, so contour if you want to, add smoky-eyes and blush if it suits your style, BUT, by all means come clean faced with red lips if that’s your thing!
STEP 5:
Do something out of the ordinary with your hair that matches the style of your outfit. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy – maybe you add a loose fishtail braid to a boho outfit, or beachy waves that we can play with on camera. Maybe you crimp it all up and wear it BIG with your retro look!
STEP 6:
Bring some props that add to the mood of your look! Not cheesy props like they did in the 80s -- unless of course your outfit is from the 80s, then by all means. Props can be sunglasses, a lollipop, chocolate chip cookies (bring an extra for me though K), a purse/clutch, bubble gum if you like blowing bubbles, actual bubbles, your guitar, a retro bicycle, a cool chair or stool you like… literally anything!
FINALLY:
Bring options! If you are not certain about a piece, or an entire outfit, you can always text us a photo and ask for suggestions, and it’s always good to just bring extra options in case you change your mind once you arrive. GOOD LUCK!!
