Portage Michigan Branding Photos and Headshots: Best of Friends on Fire!

Let me tell you a story…

I’m going to start in the middle.

About 3 years ago, I gained an invaluable friend;  the kind of friend I had known all of my life, but finally found the time and space to connect with.

We were both just so busy growing up, having families, losing ourselves, then rediscovering ourselves - all the while continually reinventing ourselves.

Needless to say, I am forever thankful for my sister Elizabeth, and for our new friendship which has emerged after about 20 years of living apart in different states!  We are not unlike every woman out there who is doing what she can, with what she has, to conquer the chaos one moment at a time, 24/7/365.  Which is why I am so thankful that we were able to reconnect, and develop a much needed sister bond that I truly treasure.

The last time I visited my sister, my husband and I stayed with Elizabeth and her husband in Texas.  We all worked tirelessly for about four days helping them get her new 2000 square foot shop ready for the grand opening of the new location for her business, Caliper Cosmetics!  In the creative whirlwind of those days leading up to the opening, I had the privilege of making a small mark, while helping her finalize her vision for a truly captivating space.

From the carefully curated furnishings to the meticulous attention to detail in every corner, Caliper Cosmetics radiates sophistication and style possibly never before seen in a permanent makeup and tattoo shop.  Her shop is literally the embodiment of the expression ‘everything is bigger in Texas’!

It was so fun to see all the elements come together. Collaborating with her during those intense days was a testament to her creativity and dedication, and it's incredibly rewarding to witness her dreams taking shape in such a tangible and remarkable way.

Fast forward to today.  We are both prepping for the next big event together, at her incredible shop.  I leave for Texas in three days, and I couldn’t be more excited!  We’ll save that for a future blog post.  In the meantime, let’s take a minute to applaud her achievements, enjoy some progress photos from my last visit, and raise a glass to sisters, friendship, and God willing, many more chapters to our story!

This space started completely empty - Elizabeth designed the entire layout, from wall and plumbing placement, to electrical outlets, right down to the details of where she wanted her gorgeous giant chandeliers to hang.

Outside of building the walls, drywall, plumbing, electrical and HVAC, Elizabeth did every other construction project in her new shop, including: brick laying, interior painting, setting tile, wallpaper, partition construction, front desk construction, she made her own exterior sign, made the stencil for and painted her interior signage - I’m probably leaving out half of what she did!

This is one of the wall hangings I made as a gift to my sister while I was there. This was creatively so satisfying, but took a looong time to make!
